I am trialling Class Dojo from Term 3 2016 as a communication tool between home and school. This has been used successfully in other classes and I feel it is important to encourage parent involvement as much as possible by making communication easy and convenient to them. The Class Dojo programme will allow me to post messages about what's happening in our class as well as send private messages to parents of individual parents. It also allows me to create a 'Class Story' and post photos. This may be a simpler alternative to the class blog currently in use which is time consuming and isn't as convenient for parents to access. |

To make communication easier and more in line with 21st Century learning, I established a class website at the beginning of the school year. There are pages for each of the learning areas to which I upload our class learning and relevant photos. This allows those parents/caregivers who are unable to frequent the classroom, an opportunity to view their child's learning and experience the changing classroom environment through pictures. There is also a blog page where I post reminders or short communications.
The feedback so far has been extremely positive and the students are really enjoying witching it grow. My plan is for students to add some of their own content later in the year.
